A bike ride turns into the most romantic surprise! Read on to see how Ryan surprised Meredith with her beautiful, new ring. On behalf of the entire Long's team, congratulations and best of luck.

How did the two of you meet?

"Ryan and I met on Match.com last April, and we knew after the first and second date respectively that this was a done deal. He was sold based on my TEDx talk and when I got up from our first date to walk to the bathroom crutch-free (I'm an incomplete paraplegic). I was sold on our second date when our walk around Castle Island in Boston, MA turned into a 6 hour long date including our first kiss. "

How did he propose?

"Fast forward to this spring and COVID hits making Ryan go to Proposal Plan B. When quarantine rules allowed for local travel, we decided to go to Lake George for the long Fourth of July weekend. Hotels were super expensive on Lake George itself, so Google led us to the Lamplight Inn in nearby Lake Luzerne, voted the most romantic B&B in NY state.

The weather was looking spotty on Friday the 3rd, so we opted for a pre-breakfast bike ride in the Lake Luzerne area during which we came across a sign for the Hadley Historic Parabolic Bridge. Since I have a really good friend who builds bridges and I love photos, especially with water in them, we decided to go explore. As we came down a big hill approaching the bridge, Ryan suggested stopping on the bridge to take photos. Seeing as it was a one lane road over the bridge with yield signs everywhere, I shot that idea down. As we crossed the bridge though, a gravel pull-off area and gazebo came into view. Ryan knew upon seeing it that this was where he wanted to propose.

We got off our bikes, and Ryan helped me walk into the gazebo where I leaned against the back rail and started taking pictures of the bridge and river. He told me he needed to tie his shoe, but the next thing I knew, he was saying my name. I turned around to find him down on one knee holding the ring and asking me to marry him! We are so excited to be embarking on this next step of our journey together, and I am absolutely in love with my Long's three stone diamond and emerald platinum engagement ring!"

Tell us about the engagement ring!

"It is a three stone platinum ring with center diamond and emerald side stones. The stones are set low so that they won't catch on my wheelchair rims, and the band is tapered as it approaches the side stones. Thank you to Peter at the Braintree store for working with Ryan to make my dream ring a reality and respecting his budget. I am constantly getting compliments on how shiny and unique my ring is!"
