Long’s Jewelers (“we”, “us” and “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of visitors to its online e-commerce platform (our “store”) at https://www.longsjewelers.com/ (“Site”). This Privacy Policy explains our online information practices.

Our store is hosted on Shopify Inc. We do not control Shopify and have no responsibility or liability for Shopify’s collection, use or sharing of your information.

We collect personal information when you purchase something from our store as part of the buying and selling process.  We may also collect personal information that you provide to us when providing feedback, making inquiries, or registering to receive information from us.  When you choose to use these features, we ask for information such as your name, e-mail address, and mailing address, and we may request your phone number (all together, “Personal Information”).

Through the Site, we may automatically gather certain information about the use of the Site, such as how frequently certain areas of the Site are visited, including through the use of cookies, web beacons and other technologies. We use non-personally identifiable information in the aggregate so that we can improve the Site and store.  We may use or share such aggregated de-identified data with third parties for any purpose.

We do not sell your Personal Information.

We may include links on our Site to third party websites that have separate and independent privacy policies.  We have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked websites.  Our store is hosted on Shopify Inc.  When you visit our store, Shopify may receive the same personal information that you provide to us. Certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, have their own privacy policies governing the information they receive for your purchase-related transactions. For these providers, we recommend that you read their privacy policies so you can understand the manner in which your Personal Information will be handled by these providers.

In particular, remember that certain providers may be located in or have facilities that are located in a different jurisdiction than either you or us.  If you elect to proceed with a transaction that involves the services of a third-party service provider, then your information may become subject to the laws of the jurisdiction(s) in which that service provider or its facilities are located.

When you click on links available through our store, they may direct you away from our Site. Your online transactions are managed by our third party service provider.  Your credit card information is not transmitted to us through your activity at our Site.  Although no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, we use service providers who follow all PCI-DSS requirements and implement additional generally accepted industry security standards.

We may deny your deletion request if retaining the information is necessary for us or our service provider(s) to:

  • Complete the transaction for which we collected the Personal Information, provide a good or service that you requested, take actions reasonably anticipated within the context of our ongoing business relationship with you, fulfill the terms of a written warranty or product recall conducted in accordance with federal law, or otherwise perform our contract with you.

Except as provided above, we will delete, aggregate, or de-identify all of your Personal Information as described in this subsection within the timeframes required by law.

e. Exercising Access, Data Portability, and Deletion Rights

When exercising the rights or options described in this Notice, the following guidelines apply:

No Fee Usually Required. You will not have to pay a fee to access your Personal Information (or to exercise any of the other rights). However, we may charge a reasonable fee or decline to comply with your request if your request is clearly unfounded, repetitive, or excessive.

What We May Need from You. When exercising your rights or otherwise assisting you, we may need to request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity. This is a security measure to ensure we do not disclose Personal Information to any person who is not entitled to receive it. We may also contact you to ask you for further information in relation to your request to speed up our response.

Time to Respond and Format. We will endeavor to timely respond to a verifiable consumer request. If we require more time, we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing. We will deliver our written response by mail or electronically. Any disclosures we provide will only cover the 12-month period preceding the verifiable consumer request’s receipt. The response we provide will also explain the reasons we cannot comply with a request, if applicable. For data portability requests, we will select a format to provide your Personal Information that is readily useable and should allow you to transmit the information from one entity to another entity without hindrance.

No Discrimination. You will not be subject to discrimination as a result of exercising the rights described herein. In some cases, when you exercise one of your rights, we will be unable to comply with the request due to legal obligations or otherwise, or we will be unable to provide you certain products or services. These responses are not discrimination and our reasons for declining your request or ceasing services will be provided at that time.

Authorized Agent. You may designate an authorized agent to make a legally allowable request on your behalf. In order to designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, you must mail to us a valid power of attorney, the requester’s valid government issued identification, and the authorized agent’s valid government issued identification.

California’s “Shine the Light” law (Civil Code Section § 1798.83) permits users of our Site that are California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of Personal Information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
