Accounts Payable - Burlington, MA

Accounts Payable is responsible for handling our company's bills and managing our accounts payable ledger.  This position maintains a streamlined and efficient process to pay vendors accurately and on-time by performing day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording various Accounts Payable data.  Accounts Payable must have a good understanding of payments, the accounting process, and budgeting.

This is a Full-Time position and will require occasionally working on weekends and some early evenings.  This position comes with a comprehensive benefits package. 


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Process, code, and enter approximately 600 - 800 invoices into Great Plains each month for 200 vendors.
  • Interface invoices into general ledger from Receiving Department
  • Tie and verify that invoice details agree between vendor’s invoices and approved packing slips from appropriate departments
  • Process outgoing payments by method of check, credit card and bank wire transactions
  • Verify and investigate discrepancies by reconciling vendor monthly statements.
  • Request follow up for credit memos owed to company and properly apply to vendor payments.
  • Reconcile month-end AP general ledger balance sheet accounts; Close and produce month-end and year-end accounting reports.
  •  Compile documentation for and provide audit support semi-annually.
  •  Maintain a highly organized and up-to-date, extensive filing system. 
  • Establish and maintain strong vendor rapport and relationships by effectively communicating with respect, promptness, and clarity.  Respond to vendor queries concerning payments of invoices, etc, in a timely manner.
  •   Oversee part-time accounting assistant regarding AP duties.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred, but not required.
  • 2 years Accounts Payable experience with general understanding of accounting principles.
  •  Proficient abilities with Excel and Outlook; experience with Great Plains a plus. 
  • Ability to process a high-volume, full cycle Accounts Payable system.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and to manage to deadlines, such as month-end.
  • Detail oriented, reliable, professional and positive attitude.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers with other duties as required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands and work environment described for this position are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Duties are performed indoors in an office/workstation environment.  Duties may require extended periods of standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, and long periods of computer viewing.   The job may also require periods of pulling/pushing items, lifting and carrying items, stooping, and kneeling.  The ability to travel to/from store locations is part of this position and requires the ability to drive a car.  The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

  • Set stones in prong and bezel, including fancy cut stones.
  • Re-tipping prongs.
  • Create stone mounts.
  • Perform channel and platinum rebuilds.
  • Perform minor ring repair and other jewelry repairs, including chain and clasp repairs.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work with all metals, including 14k, 18k, platinum and sterling silver.
  • Master level skillset with torch. Prefer some laser experience.
  • Ability to complete 15 – 20 repairs daily, in addition to the shared maintenance and general upkeep of the shop.
  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to use sound judgment to arrive at the best outcome based on the information at hand.
  • Ability to interact with external and internal customers.

Watchmaker - Burlington, MA

Due to growth, Long’s Jewelers is seeking an experienced watchmaker to support our thriving luxury timepiece business. This role demands advanced technical expertise, including brand, model, movement, and material identification. The ideal candidate will embody a passion for watches backed by expert knowledge of watch service and repair. This role is based in our Burlington, MA corporate office.

Responsibilities:

  • Determine brand authenticity and condition, both external and functional performance, of timepieces.
  • Accurately diagnose and perform quality service and repair of basic to moderate complexity on customer-owned merchandise, with the aim of improving overall condition, function, and timing accuracy on both quartz and mechanical watches.
  • Identify and requisition parts for repairs.
  • Handle all necessary documentation and recordkeeping of service and repairs according to Long’s policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient workspace and ensure proper use and maintenance of work tools.
  • Communicate proactively with department leaders with regards to progress on various projects and overall scope of pending work.
  • Participate in trainings, audits, and meetings as required, including travel when applicable.
  • Assist other watchmakers to authenticate and resolve complex repairs.

Qualifications:

  • 3 – 5 years + Advanced technical watchmaking expertise, including brand, model, movement, and material identification.
  • Familiar with both Swiss and Japanese movements.
  • Demonstrated experience in repairing and servicing luxury watches, with skills including but not limited to: quartz/mechanical movements, chronographs, perpetual calendars, and lathe work.
  • Proficient with case disassembly/reassembly of quartz, mechanical, and chronograph watches.
  • Ability to multi-task and work on multiple service projects at the same time. Prioritization is key.
  • Must possess excellent hand and eye coordination, and the ability to perform fine motor skills.
  • Extremely accurate vision, natural or corrected.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and anticipate organizational needs, including the ability to meet deadlines and successfully complete projects.

Luxury Watch Tech - Burlington, MA

Long’s Jewelers is seeking a Luxury Watch Tech to assist with the repair and maintenance of luxury timepieces.  This is a great chance to join our dynamic team of watch professionals, working with the finest watch brands in the world.  If you are passionate about horology and enjoy working with your hands, this could be the job for you!  

Essential Job Functions / Core Responsibilities:

  • Conduct servicing and maintenance of watches, primarily by disassembling, repairing, and reassembling components.
  • Diagnose watch defects, testing and replacing parts and batteries as necessary.
  • Determine causes of watch malfunctions, such as defects in parts or incorrect adjustment.
  • Provide customer service and assist the store team with client needs such as sizing bracelets, engraving, suggesting improvements and answering questions.
  • Perform oiling, polishing, and buffing to restore watches to their original condition for the Estate department.
  • Maintain tools, workplace, and inventory in an organized, safe manner.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining repair records.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 1 year of Technical School training or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of watch service and repair operations a plus. Long’s is willing to train the right candidate.
  • General understanding of and/or a true passion for horology and luxury timepieces.
  • Ability to work under pressure achieving a high level of accuracy and keen attention to detail.
  • Analytic approach to problem solving with a high drive for excellence.
  • Must have excellent fine motor skills.
