Cartier, a name synonymous with quality and style, was founded 1847 in Paris, France by Louis-Francois Cartier. Cartier's final move to 13 Rue de La Paix in Paris - one of Paris' most expensive streets - proved to be the right one as many other luxury jewelers followed suit quickly transforming the area into the center of international jewelry. Cartier only went on to expand and enhance their legacy by opening a London store in 1902 and a New York store in 1909. Among one of his many innovations, Louis Cartier's most important and lasting was introducing the combination of platinum and diamonds to create a garland style of jewelry by weaving the platinum into extremely fine threads to further enhance the sparkle of diamonds. After this, platinum was considered to be a legitimate and irreplaceable precious metal in jewelry making, a notion we still herald today.

Van Cleef & Arpels was founded in France in 1896 and is known for their unparalleled enhancement of exceptional and rare stones. After the addition of Claude Arpels in 1932, his opening of the first Van Cleef & Arpels across the Atlantic at the new Rockefeller Center marked the first European Luxury brand to ever establish a presence in the United States. Since their beginning, Van Cleef & Arpels have been associated with events marking the lives of many royal and imperial families around the world. Among the many socialites known to favor the luxury designs of Van Cleef & Arpels are Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Kennedy, Julia Roberts, Uma Thurman, Diane Kruger, Scarlett Johansson and many more.
