Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between antique and vintage jewelry? Expand Minimize

We define vintage jewelry as being pieces that are 50 years or older. We define antique jewelry as being pieces that are 100 years or older. However, all vintage and antique jewelry can be classified as pre-owned or estate jewelry since it is not newly manufactured retail product.  What collectors love about vintage and antique jewelry is that, historically, pieces were often made using techniques and gemstones or diamond cuts that are no longer employed in contemporary jewelry.

What is considered estate jewelry? Expand Minimize

Estate jewelry refers to a piece of jewelry that has been previously owned, regardless of age or former owner's status. Pre-owned jewelry, whether antique, vintage, or contemporary, can also be classified as estate jewelry. The age of the piece is not a determining factor in whether it is considered fine estate jewelry; even a piece that is only a few weeks old would be considered estate jewelry if it has had a previous owner, versus being a newly manufactured retail product that has arrived to our stores straight from a vendor.
