A Long's Proposal Story: Danielle & Eric

A picture perfect sunset proposal! Read on to see how Eric surprised Danielle with her beautiful, new ring while on vacation in Gloucester. On behalf of the entire Long's team, congratulations and best of luck.

How did the two of you meet?

"We met on Match.com."

How did you propose?

"Being that it was her birthday weekend, I decided to book somewhere nice so we could enjoy time together. The house we ended up renting for the weekend was a converted carriage house for horses with a headstone saying that it was built in 1827 (thankfully there had been a few internal updates to the house since then). The day of the proposal started out with a walk in downtown Gloucester and food at The Happy Belly before walking down to the docks to go on a whale watching cruise. The weather was a bit spotty when we boarded but as we neared the feeding grounds the sun started peeking out. We had a great day for whale watching, and saw 30 whales including two babies and their mothers.

After arriving back at the house, I asked Danielle if she'd like to walk down to the private cove to watch the sunset from the rocks and she agreed. All was well and good on the walk until Danielle stepped on a rock and rolled her ankle. After a brief moment of apoplexy, we continued on to the beach and down the trail that lead onto the rocks that extended into the water in the cove. I convinced her to walk in front of me so she wouldn't notice the ring box that was jammed into my back pocket, and we finally made our way out onto the rocks to enjoy the sunset.

After a brief moment of watching the sunset together (and to make sure that I didn't drop the ring box in the water), I got down on one knee and she said yes!"
