An Evening with Yo-Yo Ma and The Silk Road Ensemble

On Tuesday, September 27, Rolex invited a group of Long’s customers to attend a private concert with Yo-Yo Ma and the world renowned Silk Road Ensemble at Harvard’s New College Theatre in Cambridge, MA.

Founded in 1998 by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, the Silk Road Project is a nonprofit arts and educational organization that takes inspiration from the historic Silk Road trading routes as a modern metaphor for multicultural and interdisciplinary exchange. The historic Silk Road trade network provides a namesake-worthy metaphor for the Silk Road Project’s vision of connecting artists and audiences around the world. Yo-Yo Ma has called these routes, which resulted in the first global exchange of scientific and cultural traditions, the “Internet of antiquity.” The Silk Road Project takes inspiration from this age-old tradition of cross-cultural exchange.

This exceptional performance was followed by dinner at Sandrine’s Bistro, a neighboring restaurant. Our customers were excited to have a chance to participate in this exclusive event and thrilled to have the opportunity to meet and mingle with Yo-Yo Ma following the performance, courtesy of Rolex.
