We think gemstones are pretty exciting, so on a recent visit to The Harvard Museum of Natural History, we were especially in awe of their mineralogical and geological gallery. It’s a wall to wall space filled that includes mineral collections displayed both systematically and thematically, sparkling displays of gemstones in both rough and cut examples. In the middle of the room stands a 1,600 pound amethyst geode from Brazil. One corner of the gallery is even dedicated to a stunning assortment of meteorites discovered around the globe!
The Harvard Museum of Natural History is located in Cambridge MA, open daily, and free to Massachusetts residents every Sunday morning from 9:00 am to noon. A visit to this museum is a great activity for all ages – on your own, with a friend or a date, or with the family.
